Who Am I?My name is Kevin Behmer and I am in my 30th year of teaching secondary mathematics/computer science!
After student teaching at Huron in 1988, I landed my first teaching job at Ovid-Elsie HS, a small consolidated district northeast of Lansing. After three years at O-E (go Maruaders!) I returned to Huron and am now in my 26th year of teaching at Huron HS in Ann Arbor. 2017-18 finds Computer Science at Huron HS in a very exciting place! In addition to continuing to offer Advanced Placement Computer Science - A (coding in Java) our APCS Principles course, which had its first College Board exam in the spring of 2017, continues along with multiple sections! Finally, now that Huron is an International Baccalaureate World School, we are offering DP CS Courses with our first cohort sitting their IB exams in the spring of 2019! Over these many years, I have taught every class offering for freshman ranging from Accelerated Geometry to Algebra1 to Pre-Algebra. I have experience teaching our Geometry X (non-proof based), Algebra 1X, Algebra2 (both traditional and "emergency block style" for seniors) and Senior Advanced Math (Intro to PreCalc). I have also taught Computer Science with the languages of BASIC, HTML, Logo, Pascal, c++ and Java. In addition to my teaching duties, I have worked in a variety of extra curricular activities:
